Volunteers help set the tone for the compassionate support our children and families experience at Ronald McDonald House Houston. Volunteers are an integral part of our team, providing caring assistance.
Over 700 volunteers at our 8 locations throughout the Texas Medical Center provide love and support to thousands of families. By baking cookies, greeting families at check-in, hosting meals and activities, and so much more, these fantastic individuals and groups ensure that our House truly is a home.
“I think in general it’s nice being able to help others, and do what I can to make their lives just a little bit easier, even if it comes down to baking some cookies. Knowing these families and the upheaval that is going on in their lives, and being able to help, if only a little bit, makes any worries I may have seem trivial by comparison.”
Since our very first House opened in 1981, Maurine Alfrey has been a committed volunteer with Ronald McDonald House Houston. Always ready to help in any way, Maurine’s commitment to serving RMH Houston children and families is heartfelt and inspiring.
