2015 Volunteer of the Year: Effie Manriquez

Effie_ManriquezRonald McDonald House Houston is pleased to honor Effie Manriquez as our 2015 Volunteer of the Year! Effie joyfully volunteers at our Ronald McDonald House inside Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. The mission of Ronald McDonald House Houston is to offer a home away from home providing care, compassion and hope to families with seriously ill children being treated in Texas Medical Center institutions.

Effie’s spirit and work ethic embody our mission. She works diligently to make certain that families feel welcomed and are comforted during their stay. From restocking rooms to baking cookies and everything in between, Effie is on hand to ensure that the needs of the families utilizing our services never go unnoticed. She is incredibly generous with her time and makes certain to get to know families offering them tours and a listening ear whenever necessary.

In addition to her unrelenting support of families, Effie is also highly lauded by staff and co-volunteers for her willingness to contribute “behind the scenes.” She mends volunteer vests, conducts the weekly supply inventory and sets the standard of dependability! Since beginning in January 2011, Effie has graciously given over 3,900 hours of volunteer service in support of Ronald McDonald House Houston families. For these reasons and many others, RMH Houston is grateful for Effie’s service. She is truly “one in a million.”
