Hope everyone is having a great week. Here at Ronald McDonald House Houston we started the week off with a BANG and hosted our second annual Five Star Day. This year we even expanded Five Star Day to our Family Room at MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital! Let me tell you a little bit about all of the pampering and fun activities I was able to witness…
At Holcombe House, staff from Magnolia Hotels spent the day with us including their Executive Chef who provided a delicious brunch to kick off the morning! I didn’t actually get to eat it (I’m banned from the dining room for begging for scraps…) but it smelled GREAT and everyone said it hit the spot. Throughout the afternoon families were treated to:
- Table massages (which I’m told are like the human equivalent to a really awesome belly rub)
- Makeovers and brow bar by The Fairest One
- Hair styling by Hair & There
- Straight razor shaves for the men by The Boardroom
- A princess party for the little ones by Glamour Avenue Parties
- Road Gamers gaming truck
- And so much more!
Meanwhile, the families and patients at our Family Room at MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital were treated to a hearty brunch from The Mobile Gourmet, yoga classes by one of our awesome volunteers, massages, satin hands treatment and makeovers by Mary Kay, and a yummy tex-mex dinner from Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen.
My favorite part of the day, aside from sneaking some popcorn, was seeing all of the moms getting “beautified” before dinner! All of the parents and caregivers deserve a day to relax and get pampered, and I really loved being a part of it. There was even a professional photographer on hand who was taking family portraits, and of course I jumped into a few photos!
I’m already looking forward to Five Star Day 2016. Maybe they’ll have something fun for me like a truck full of tennis balls!! A pup can dream, right?
Hugs and Sloppy Kisses,
