Over 90 runners ran for our families in the Chevron Houston Marathon. Together, our runners raised $84,439 putting Ronald McDonald House Houston in sixth place out of 62 participating charities.
For over 21 years, the Houston Chevron Marathon Committee has provided an opportunity for Houston’s nonprofit community to get involved with the annual Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Half Marathon through the Run for a Reason program. This program allows race participants, who are willing to fundraise and raise awareness, to connect with local nonprofit organizations and run on their team. Ronald McDonald House Houston is one of the 62 Run for a Reason charities and has been teaming up with runners for years to raise awareness and funds for programs.
This year, our Chevron Houston Marathon team was comprised of 93 runners, including: 21 marathon Fundraising For Registration (FFR) runners, 41 half marathon FFR runners, 17 HERO entries and 14 fundraising-only entries. Schlumberger was our corporate Sidewalk Squad sponsor, and Salient and Southwestern Energy both had corporate running groups on the team.
Together, our runners fundraised $84,439 for the House. Out of the 62 participating charities, our team ranked 6th in overall fundraising. This was a huge success and couldn’t have been possible without the faithful commitment and dedication of our runners. Our team ranged from avid runners who were brand-new to our mission to a dedicated staff member who wanted to run for the families she works with. Despite their various connections to the House, all team members developed an affinity for Ronald McDonald House Houston and ran for the families we serve.
Thank you to all of those who ran and fundraised for the House, our success is not possible without you!
