COVID-19 Updates & Guidelines

Ronald McDonald House Houston Families, your health and safety is our first priority.  Due to the seriousness of the Coronavirus pandemic in our community, our waitlist for past and future families at Holcombe House is currently closed.  We are diligently working with local health officials, partnering hospitals and Ronald McDonald House Charities to create a plan to reopen the house in a safe and cautious manner.  You may still access services through our programs at Texas Children’s Hospital, Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital and MD Anderson Pediatric Cancer Unit. Please speak with your child’s social worker on how to access these programs in your child’s hospital.

When the status of our wait list changes, we will post that update here, on our web page.  Until then, please know we care about your family and look forward to serving you as soon as we can.

Ronald McDonald House inside Children’s Memorial Hermann continues to serve families with children being treated in Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive care units. We remain open for family guest overnight stays, as well as serving snacks and donated meals in the 7th floor lounge during the hours of 10 am – 6 pm daily.

Despite limiting our hours to 10 am – 6 pm daily, the House (4th Floor Abercrombie Building) has remained open for family guest overnight stays, as well as hosting families for respite, snacks, and donated meals during the limited hours in the common space of the House.

Ronald McDonald Family Room MD Anderson located in the heart of the 9th Floor MDA Children’s Cancer Hospital, our RMH Kitchen continues to be operated by MD Anderson Pediatric Child Life staff to serve coffee and snacks provided by RMH Monday –Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. The Family Room spaces are still being utilized for medical and clinical MDA staff respite.

Family Meal & Activity groups are suspended due to COVID-19

Thank you for your interest in our Group Volunteer program, which we rely on each year to serve thousands of meals to families with critically ill children at hospitals in the Texas Medical Center. COVID-19 has significantly impacted our RMH Houston programs.

Due to visitor restrictions, no volunteer groups are allowed in any RMHH program until it is deemed safe to allow visitors. But families still need us. With your help, we can provide essential meal service for families with vulnerable children. It is more important than ever.

Sign-up, and we’ll let you know when restrictions are lifted
