JoyFULL Eats and Family Activities

Group volunteers are currently limited onsite at our Holcombe House location. Volunteers are currently not allowed at our three hospital locations due to COVID-19 safety precautions. Since we serve a high-risk population of immune-compromised children and their families, we are doing all we can to keep them safe. We look forward to easing into onsite group volunteering in a comfortable and safe manner.
One of our goals at Ronald McDonald House Houston is to provide each family we serve with opportunities for positive, memory-making experiences in the midst of their challenging healthcare journeys. These lasting family memories are often created around food and fun activities!
We need your help to create moments of warmth and magic that help Ronald McDonald House Houston become a true home away from home.
JoyFULL Eats
For Ronald McDonald House Houston families, eating consistent, nutritious meals during a hospital stay can be a huge challenge. In addition to caring for their seriously ill child, families are often confronted with secondary, unexpected costs, including the burden of accessing/purchasing food.
JoyFULL Eats is RMHH’s solution to help alleviate hunger while families are supporting their seriously ill child. JoyFULL Eats provides healthy and convenient food options for the children and families at our four RMH Houston locations.
Volunteers can sponsor or cook a meal for our families, host a food drive to fill our pantry, or purchase H-E-B gift cards to provide quick and easy H-E-B Simple Meals to our families.
Family Activities
Help us create a space for imagination, laughter, and togetherness by sponsoring a craft or activity!
Engaging children, their siblings, and their caregivers is part of what turns our house into a home. Each day after school and appointments, families have come to count on a way to spend time together with each other. Everyone gathers around the Great Room—depending on how they are feeling, some people work independently, others sit together. It’s important for everyone to have these normal family experiences—being together, playing and laughing, and being part of a community. Staff, interns, and volunteers facilitate more than the activity itself. At its core, our programs are about memory-making and legacy building—the things that often outlast a child’s time with us. It’s an opportunity to create a moment of normalcy in a time where life is anything but.
Keep our gift card tree stocked with gift cards in $25 increments to Target, Walmart, HEB, or Amazon to help families with the basic necessities.
Keep our toy closet full of the neatest toys and gadgets for the smallest to biggest kids under our roof!
To sponsor an activity please contact Molly Berg, Family Activities Manager, at mberg@rmhhouston.org
