Individual Volunteers

The Heart of the House

Join Us in Keeping Families Close
Ronald McDonald House Houston individual volunteers help carry out the day-to-day operations at each of our four facilities. Parking is free, scheduling is flexible and the volunteer experience is fulfilling! Volunteer shifts are available in three-hour blocks, 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Help Us Create a Home Away From Home for Families
Volunteer duties may include helping guests check in and check out of the overnight rooms, answering phones, greeting and orienting visitors and families, visiting with patients in some of our locations, making coffee, light cleaning, organizing, or helping with administrative duties. As many of our volunteers have witnessed, even something small like making coffee or stocking snacks can have a BIG impact on someone’s day in the midst of a crisis.

Throughout the academic year, Ronald McDonald House Houston provides internships to college students. These internships give students the opportunity to gain real world, “hands on” experience that complements their coursework.

We have established formal partnerships with the Bachelors of Social Work program at University of Houston – Downtown and the Master of Social Work program at the University of Houston – Main Campus, that allow students to not only support the Family Support Services Department but also gain skills in assessment, case management and connecting families with services in the community.
