Are there any requirements or skills needed to become a Friend?

Yes! Love, patience, kindness, and some of your time.

Can both men and women join Friends?

Yes, we would love that!

What is the difference between Friends and HOU Crew?

HOU Crew is made up of young professionals (mid-twenties to mid-forties) with events and meetings taking place after 5:00 PM and on the weekends. Friends events typically occur during the day with a few events in the late afternoon or evening.

Does it cost money to join Friends?

We do ask for annual dues of $100.00 for individuals and $150 for couples. Please see the main page for all membership payment options.

What do the dues pay for?

Dues are used to support our annual operating costs which fund our family activities and group events for the Friends.

Are there other costs throughout the year?

None required; however, some of our events depend on additional donations (in-kind and/or monetary) from members for things such as food, paper goods or more. Additional donations are voluntary and strictly up to each member’s ability and desire to contribute.

How do I get communications about Friends?

Once you join you will be begin receiving our monthly Friends newsletter which will inform you on meetings, events and other pertinent information. You will also receive our volunteer newsletter which will alert you to any upcoming volunteer opportunities with our special events and other programs throughout the year.

What do I do if I work?

We have evening meetings as well as morning meetings, so you can attend either depending on your preference and availability. If you cannot attend a meeting, you can obtain information from the newsletter. Family Dinners and Birthday Parties also take place in the late afternoon or early evening and a few weekends.

What kind of social events do Friends get involved in?

Social events vary each year based on the group’s preference. Examples include family birthday parties, Mother’s/Father’s Day events, dinner meetings, membership events, and Ronald McDonald House Houston special events such as galas, luncheons, fun runs, and golf tournaments.

Will we be directly involved with the families?

Yes, in some situations.
